MEDICAL LASERS
Andover Animal Hospital is a laser surgery and therapy center.
What is a Therapy Laser?
Our class IV K-Laser therapy laser uses laser energy to reduce pain and inflammation on a cellular level. The care team has witnessed firsthand dramatic improvements in pain, swelling, lameness, and reduced infection in our patients. Greater than 75% of the patients utilizing the therapy laser have required less pain-controlling drugs after treatment. Most treatment sessions require less than 10 minutes with no sedation. Ask any member of our care team for more information on how laser therapy may benefit your pet for acute and chronic conditions. We love talking about this drug and surgery-free pain control option!
What is Laser Surgery? What benefits does it provide for me and my pet?
Our veterinary Aesculight Laser surgery provides the same benefits to pets that human patients have enjoyed for over thirty years: less pain, less bleeding, less infection, less swelling and discomfort after surgery, and the ability to resume normal activities sooner.
The Aesculight veterinary laser can perform a wide variety of surgical procedures. It can be used to make unique bloodless laser incisions and erase unhealthy tissue (e.g., tumors) without excessive blood loss typical of conventional scalpel-based surgery. The laser seals small blood vessels as it cuts, which significantly simplifies the surgical procedure. The laser ablation is so precise that it can selectively remove only a few cells at a time, and the laser beam seals nerve endings, so patients are much more comfortable after treatment. The laser beam kills any bacteria in its path and also seals lymph nodes, resulting in less post-operative swelling and infection. That all translates to more effective surgery, less pain, and a faster recovery time. When pets recover quickly, they get to go home faster, making owners and veterinarians happy.
